VESTAMID® NRG in the oil and gas industry

The VESTAMID® NRG grades for oil and gas applications have been developed for manufacturing high caliber pipes. They feature  very constant processing properties without variations. High caliber tubing with constant diameters and wall ticknesses can be produced due to the high melt stiffness of the polymer.

VESTAMID® NRG For Gas Applications

For many years, steel was the only material available for gas piping for pressures between 10 and 18 bar. Now VESTAMID® NRG is competing with steel. The polyamide 12 withstands operating pressures of up to 18 bar, making it suitable for distribution lines and industrial connections. Accessories made of the same material are also available.

Liner for oil and gas pipelines

VESTAMID® NRG liners in production pipelines offer enormous cost-saving potential and considerable advantages in the supply chain. They are the alternative to corrosion inhibitors, CRA (Corrosion Resistant Alloys) and clad pipes.

VESTAMID® NRG for steel pipe coating

VESTAMID® NRG offers a flexible, mechanically resistant coating system, which combines the advantages of a polyethylene coating and a cement covering.

Sea oil production is becoming increasingly difficult. Companies have to go deeper to the seabed. Flexible pipelines are laid instead of rigid steel pipelines. Not only the tubing material has to resist the harsh conditions in the oil and gas industry. The components are also subject to these loads. Evonik offers polyamide 12, polyether ether ketone (PEEK) and polyimide for components. PEEK is mostly used.
